After noticing the overwhelming pain expressed by Black women on TikTok following the election results, Camille McCallum felt compelled to honor their solidarity by creating T-shirts for the 92% Club. As the founder of Black Woman on a Mission, her initiative aligns with the striking statistic that more than 90 percent of Black women voted for Kamala Harris, contrasting sharply with the 45 percent support among white women. This movement celebrates and acknowledges the critical political role of Black women, serving as a powerful reminder of their collective voice and influence.
McCallum’s T-shirts are a direct response to the distress and division felt after the election, aiming to symbolize unity among Black women voters. She refers to her initiative as the antithesis of the ‘blue bracelet’ worn by some white women, which represents their rejection of Donald Trump. Through her apparel, she has tapped into a long tradition of expressing political views through symbols and adornments, underscoring the importance of visibility and representation for Black women in politics.
