Solano County District Attorney Krishna Abrams successfully urged Governor Newsom to reverse a parole decision for Paige Linville, convicted for her role in a 2007 murder. Linville's release posed a significant danger to society, according to Newsom's assessment. The Parole Board's initial suitability hearing raised concerns regarding the awarding of sentence credits to violent offenders under Proposition 57, and this has sparked discussions about the validity of such decisions amidst ongoing appeals. The family of the victim remains particularly affected by the potential release of Linville.
This was obviously very concerning to our office, but more importantly to the family who had lost their loved one to murder.
Despite this issue being reviewed by the Court of Appeals, violent inmates are still being awarded these credits.
