Part of a Santa Clara park has been temporarily closed after the discovery of suspected rodent poison pellets, city officials said. The pellets were found at Jenny Strand Park on Howard Drive after a dog owner contacted the city Monday to report that their pet had eaten some of the pellets and became sick.

Nearly 150 incidents of dogs off leads chasing and attacking deer have been recorded over the past 28 months across London’s eight royal parks, a charity has said. Royal Parks, the body that manages the parks, has warned visitors that such behaviour risks serious injury to people, dogs and wildlife. A Lyft passenger who had apparently been in some sort of verbal and physical altercation with his driver was killed after engaging the driver in a foot chase on I-80 in Vallejo early Saturday. The man was killed while running on the shoulder of the eastbound freeway near Tennessee Street by an Audi, and the driver said she did not see him until it was too late.
