Black widow spiders, probably the deadliest spider in Northern California, are more active during the warm months from March to November, which poses a significant threat to the region.
They can be identified by the red hourglass marking on their abdomens, spin strong webs, are approximately 1.5 inches long, and have a lifespan of one to three years.
