Captivate crash, new install - eLearning
Briefly

The article describes issues encountered after a clean installation of Adobe Captivate, where users face multiple error messages related to inaccessible file paths. The software fails to create a cache folder and falls back to a temporary location, but with no effectiveness. When trying to access preferences to rectify the path issue, further unexpected errors arise, ultimately crashing the application back to the desktop. This situation highlights significant operational challenges in the current version of Captivate, requiring troubleshooting or potential software patches.
When I attempt to create a New Project after launching a clean install of Captivate, I receive multiple error messages indicating an inaccessible file path on my machine.
Both error dialogs indicate issues with creating a cache folder, which suggests Captivate might be pointing to an incorrect location for its cache.
As soon as I clicked Preferences to change the cache location, a third error appeared stating an unexpected error occurred, causing Captivate to crash.
The rebooting and fallback mechanisms to the %temp% directory in error messages don’t work, and Captivate crashes back to the Windows desktop.
