Boston police arrested Alonzo Poole after a South End resident reported unusual noises in his home and found an unfamiliar man at the staircase. The homeowner noticed a bag outside and indicated Poole might have been in the house multiple times. Police discovered Poole had warrants for previous offenses and that a key to the homeowner's apartment had gone missing, which was found with Poole's belongings. He was charged with breaking and entering and is scheduled for court on August 19.
Matthew Hammond stated, 'I was eating breakfast with my children - they're 4 years old and 6 years old - and I looked outside and saw the belongings of someone who doesn't have a home and didn't belong in my home.'
Officers responding to the reported break-in arrested Alonzo Poole, who claimed to have keys to the apartment and had warrants for assault and battery.
Investigators discovered that a key to Hammond's home had recently gone missing, and a matching key was found among Poole's belongings.
Poole was charged with breaking and entering during the daytime with intent to commit a felony and is due back in court on August 19.
