The Boston Bruins actively participated in Day 1 of NHL free agency by signing multiple bottom-six forwards and acquiring veteran left wing Viktor Arvidsson from the Edmonton Oilers. The team also announced new jersey numbers for seven players. Notably, Jeannot will be the second player in the franchise's 100-year history to wear No. 84, while Arvidsson, who previously wore No. 33, stated he wouldn't choose that number in Boston due to its association with Zdeno Chara. Andrew Peeke has traded his No. 52 to Sean Kuraly, opting for No. 26 instead.
I don't think I'm gonna touch that number in Boston. We'll see where I end up. I'm gonna ask my daughters for advice, too.
Jeannot will be just the second player in the 100-year history of the franchise to wear No. 84, joining Jarred Tinordi (2021).
Arvidsson has worn No. 33 since 2017 while playing for the Nashville Predators, Los Angeles Kings and Edmonton Oilers during that time.
Peeke will wear No. 26 going forward.
