Johnny Beecher, 24, was claimed off waivers by the Calgary Flames after the Boston Bruins exposed him Monday. Boston planned to assign Beecher to the Providence Bruins but Calgary picked him up before he cleared waivers. Beecher was a 2019 first-round pick (No. 30) and appeared in 136 games with Boston, registering 11 goals and 11 assists. Beecher is an elite skater with a 6-foot-3, 220-pound frame and a 53 percent career faceoff rate. Offensive struggles limited his role, including one goal across his final 73 games in 2024-25. Beecher signed a one-year, $900,000 deal and appeared in six of 20 games this season.
