Charlie McAvoy returns to practice with Bruins weeks after taking puck to face
"I saw him for the first time, I don't know, three or four days ago, and automatically, it puts a smile on your face. ... We call him family, we call him a brother - to see him hurt like that in Montreal and to see him back like this with a smile, he's all happy and excited. That for sure helps our guys here."
"We will see how he is next week. There is no timeline,"
Charlie McAvoy returned to practice at Warrior Ice Arena more than two weeks after taking a puck to the mouth during Boston's Nov. 15 win in Montreal. McAvoy practiced in a red non-contact jersey and wore a facial cage while teammates skated. Head coach Marco Sturm said there is no timeline for McAvoy's return and that the defenseman is being monitored week to week. McAvoy underwent facial surgery after the injury. His presence in practice served as a visible recovery milestone and a morale boost for the Bruins despite being weeks away from clearance to play.
