Fermin Lopez suffered a gruesome facial injury in the first half of Barcelona's Champions League tie with Atletico. He was already playing with a headband, after needing stitches in a wound following a collision in training, when he was hit full in the face by goalkeeper Juan Musso's boot.

"Another memorable moment was against Red Star Belgrade. During a tackle, I lowered my head, the opposing player raised his foot and caught it in my face. I saw it was starting to bleed, my teammates got worried and called the doctor," he told L'Equipe. "At halftime, he told me I needed stitches. First, I asked him to let me take a selfie to send to my mother and tell her I was okay, but also to have a souvenir."
