The Boston Bruins struggled to overcome a two-goal deficit against the Anaheim Ducks, ultimately losing 3-2 in a closely contested game at TD Garden. After falling behind in the first period, they showed resilience by coming back in the second and third periods. Elias Lindholm scored during a power play, and Morgan Geekie was able to tie the game, but the Ducks' Leo Carlsson sealed the win in overtime. Coach Joe Sacco and player Brad Marchand both acknowledged the team's slow start and the importance of each point in their current standings.
"It was a bit of a sloppy game," Brad Marchand said. "We kind of expected that after the break. We made some mistakes, but we stuck with it."
"You spot a team a two-goal lead, and I don't care in this league, it's hard to play catch up," Interim head coach Joe Sacco said postgame. "But we fought back and we kept with it."
"It's disappointing we didn't grab the extra point, especially when you grab momentum like that late in the game," Sacco said. "Every point matters right now."
