Ryan Leonard signs first NHL contract surrounded by Boston College teammates
Briefly

Ryan Leonard, fresh off a successful sophomore season with Boston College Eagles, made official his signing with the Washington Capitals. Surrounded by teammates in the Conte Forum, his signing was a culmination of his impressive two-year performance, achieving back-to-back 30-goal seasons, a feat last seen by Cam Atkinson in the early 2010s. Leonard is also a strong contender for the esteemed Hobey Baker Award. Following the Eagles' second-round exit in the NCAA Tournament, he is poised to potentially debut in the NHL against the Boston Bruins soon.
Ryan had a prolific two-year career at Boston College. It was a pleasure working with him and we look forward to seeing him compete at the next level.
Leonard became the first Division-I NCAA player to post back-to-back 30-goal seasons since Cam Atkinson in 2009-10 and 2010-11.
Leonard's signing came a day after the Eagles were eliminated in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
