Celtics assistant coach Sam Cassell, an alumnus of Florida State University (FSU), is expected to be a prime contender for the men's basketball head coaching role once Leonard Hamilton steps down. While Cassell has yet to be contacted by FSU, he remains focused on his current position with the Celtics, where he has enjoyed success as a coach and player. With extensive experience in the NBA, he feels prepared for future coaching opportunities at both the college and NBA levels, stating he will be ready whenever the time comes.

"Once the athletic department reaches out to me, then (FSU's interest) is official. But they haven't reached out to me."
