Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics concluded the season while managing a partially torn right meniscus. He had been experiencing pain during the regular season's last month and the playoffs, where the Celtics were eliminated by the New York Knicks. Despite the injury, Brown played via pain management strategies, including receiving injections since March. He noted his pride in overcoming these physical challenges even as crucial team members like Jayson Tatum also faced injuries. Brown is set for evaluation to determine if surgery is necessary following the playoff exit.
"I don't make excuses. Obviously, it's tough the way we went out like tonight, but the way we finished the year, personally, the way I finished the year, persevering through some physical stuff that I was battling through, I'm proud of our group."
ESPN previously reported that Brown began receiving pain injections in his knee. Those injections began in March, sources said.
