Rafael Devers has struggled in September with a .183 batting average, no homers, and eight strikeouts in a recent series. Even his manager, Alex Cora, is puzzled by this performance.
Alex Cora reflected on Devers' struggles, noting, 'Honestly, I've never seen this. One thing for sure in the cage you see him... There's certain swings that he takes and he swings and misses and he's surprised he did.'
Despite battling injuries, Devers is not blaming them for his performance. Cora believes Devers is 'one click away from squaring one off,' but he's concerned about his lack of power towards left-center.
Cora pointed out that teams have been attacking Devers' weaknesses for years, and his inability to hit to left-center signals potential mechanical issues that the coaching staff is working to address.
