"It's been crazy, just the whole past 24 hours has been wild," said Montgomery. "It's been exciting, obviously, but yeah, I don't really know how to feel yet."
"I'm just excited," Montgomery said. "It's obviously early on in my pro career, so it's weird to have movement like this."
Montgomery described how a "unique situation presented itself" while he was at the batting cage, leading to the trade process with Boston.
The No. 12 overall pick from the 2024 MLB Draft was drafted in July. Chicago was one of the teams that was "highly interested" in him during the draft before he joined the Red Sox.
