Red Sox Notes: Bregman, Outfield, Injuries
"We saw the impact Alex (Bregman) had last year, on the field, in the clubhouse, in the community, someone that fits our team really well. He's still out there, which means we have a chance."
" He was ... a huge part of my success. And a lot of the young guys, and not only the young guys, but many of the guys in the clubhouse ... we're all on the same page as to where we stand with him and what we hope happens."
"aggressive"
Fenway Fest produced updates indicating the Red Sox want to add more offense and view Alex Bregman as a strong fit on the field, in the clubhouse, and in the community. The club reportedly made an aggressive offer to Bregman while other teams remain interested. Bregman opted out of a three-year, $120 million deal to seek a larger contract. Teammates credited Bregman with helping younger players and aiding preparation and offensive approach. Injuries limited Bregman to 114 games, but he slashed .273/.360/.462 with 18 home runs in 495 plate appearances and provided strong defense.
