Lego is giving $1 million to the Boston Public Library
Briefly

Lego has announced a $1 million grant to the Boston Public Library, earmarked for early literacy programs, Lego clubs, and more. This initiative is part of Lego's commitment to fostering creativity and civic engagement among Boston's youth as the company relocates its U.S. headquarters from Connecticut to Boston. The grant will support programs for children under 9, including 12,000 literacy kits and training for parents, while also expanding Lego clubs for children aged 9-13, through interactive events and community engagement efforts.
"The transformative grant will expand what's possible - introducing more playful, creative, and civic-minded experiences for young people across all of Boston's neighborhoods," BPL President David Leonard said.
The grant will fund the creation of 12,000 new 'parent literacy kits' that include multilingual resources, books, and Lego bricks designed for young children.
For children between the ages of 9 and 13, the grant money will be used to expand Lego clubs at more than 11 BPL branches.
This summer, kids will be able to enter a design competition focused on a mural challenge.
