Jeffrey C. MacDonald, a 36-year-old chef at UMass Amherst, has been arrested for the murder of his wife, Emma MacDonald, 31. Police found her dead in a hotel room after responding to a 911 call. MacDonald allegedly assaulted officers upon their arrival and later confessed to intentionally killing his wife using various objects. He has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail. The investigation is ongoing, and the university's chancellor assured the community there is no ongoing threat.
