"So far, police have not yet provided the baby's identity. The remains were brought to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, police said. Police sources could not confirm if there were any signs of physical trauma on the child's body."
The infant, believed to be a boy between five and seven months old, was discovered at about 11:05 a.m. on Nov. 20 inside a black bag hidden under a pile of fallen leaves at the Bayview Houses complex, 1590 East 102nd St., Canarsie. Officers from the 69th Precinct and NYPD PSA 1 responded after a 911 call. EMS confirmed the child’s death on the scene and the remains were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy to determine cause of death. No arrests have been made, and police have not released the baby’s identity or confirmed signs of physical trauma. Crime Scene Unit searched for evidence.
