The FDNY is currently investigating a tragic fire in a Crown Heights apartment that resulted in the death of an elderly woman in her 80s. Responding to the incident at 8 a.m. on February 21, firefighters discovered the fire in a third-floor unit filled with clutter. Despite the swift response of approximately 65 firefighters, the victim was found deceased. The fire also caused damage to a fourth-floor apartment. The investigation into the fire's cause is ongoing, with Fire Marshals conducting thorough inquiries.
Firefighters searched the apartment and found a woman in her 80s among the heavy clutter. The victim was pronounced dead.
Around 65 firefighters used a hose line to knock down the main body of the fire, which was placed under control at 8:45 a.m.
