Migratory Pathways mural walk highlights native bird's journey to New York * Brooklyn Paper
Briefly

The Migratory Pathways mural trail in Red Hook Park features colorful depictions of eight native birds and plants, painted by local artist George Boorujy. This initiative, supported by various organizations including the National Audubon Society and NYC Parks Department, aims to educate visitors about migration patterns and the local ecosystem. Boorujy's artwork emphasizes the presence of wildlife in urban settings and encourages recognition of the diverse bird species that inhabit New York City throughout the year, while also raising concerns about climate change's effects on native species.
When I moved to New York, I thought that there would be no wildlife, but then I realized there actually is a ton of wildlife here.
When you start noticing and learning about the things in the environment that you actually live in, it does make your environment richer.
This project highlights native species and raises awareness of climate change's impact on the environment.
