NYPD cop gets touching unexpected surprise from two special fans at promotion
"It definitely would have been life-threatening for both the baby and myself had Sgt. An not been there at the time. It was through divine intervention."
"I think it was like 30, 40 more minutes more before we could get there ourselves,"
"We actually saw Officer An's vehicle, and we pulled over next to him."
"Sgt. An made a call, and he escorted us to the hospital, and the staff were waiting for us, and the baby was born safely within 20 minutes of arrival."
Officer Joseph An was promoted to sergeant along with 124 other officers. A Brooklyn couple, Sasha and Daniel Cheng, surprised him with flowers one year after he escorted them to the hospital during Sasha's breached-baby emergency. The couple were stuck in traffic while traveling to NewYork-Presbyterian for delivery, saw Officer An, begged for help, and he called in and escorted them to the hospital where staff were waiting. Their son Royce was born within 20 minutes of arrival and is now a healthy one-year-old. Sgt. An expressed gratitude and said he looks forward to supervising and mentoring other officers.
