The hospital serves a predominantly Medicaid and Medicare population with high rates of chronic conditions and limited access to high-quality care. Since the merger, the hospital shortened average length of stay, reduced readmissions, increased surgical and procedural volume by more than 20 percent, and achieved on-time surgical starts above 90 percent. A 2022 JAMA Network Open study reported a 33 percent decline in hospitalized-patient mortality since the merger. The hospital expanded advanced specialty services and earned the borough's first Magnet designation.
