The recent sighting of a snowy owl at Shirley Chisholm State Park, its first in NYC for years, attracted numerous wildlife enthusiasts and photographers.
The owl was first seen late Saturday afternoon, marking a rare appearance, which has excited the local birding community for years.
Experts estimate there are less than 30,000 snowy owls in all of North America, making its appearance an extraordinary event.
Earlier in the month, a snowy owl was spotted on a barge in Bay Ridge, but it flew away by the time people arrived.
