"We just hope that it doesn't happen to anybody else again. That's the most important thing. Safety first,"
"We're destroyed right now. We're at a loss for words."
"Hopefully nobody else gets hurt, let alone dies, because this is crazy. My uncle lives in this building. I live in the next building, and it could've been anybody."
"It was a disgusting accident that never should have happened,"
A 76-year-old woman, Lyudmila Braun, was killed when a large solar panel was torn from the roof of a parking lot by powerful nor'easter winds in Coney Island, Brooklyn, and flew about 20 feet before striking her head on the sidewalk. Video captured the panel detaching and the fatal impact. The storm brought roughly 40 mph winds and widespread damage across New York City. The Parks Department received 265 reports of fallen trees and at least 12 road closures. Family and neighbors expressed grief and urged improved safety to prevent similar tragedies.
