"have been productive and are ongoing. We are continuing discussions and remain committed to working with ALPA to reach a consensual agreement that positions Spirit and our pilots for success."
Spirit Airlines is implementing further workforce reductions tied to a 25% capacity reduction and a smaller operating fleet. The carrier plans up to 365 additional pilot furloughs in early 2026 and up to 170 captain-to-first officer downgrades, with potential reductions through voluntary attrition and a final outcome expected in November. The airline previously furloughed about 330 pilots and is seeking roughly $100 million in contract cost reductions from pilots. Non-union support staff at corporate headquarters and repair bases will also be impacted. Company representatives describe ongoing, productive talks with the pilots' union to reach a consensual agreement.
