Trainline Partner Solutions' recent research shows that over 75% of UK small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) plan to increase domestic travel and budgets in 2025. A significant trend is the focus on sustainability, as 87% of SMBs have set emissions reduction targets for business travel, a stark increase from the previous survey. Moreover, most have policies to promote low-carbon travel options, reflecting an adaptation to a growing regulatory environment. The insights from Travel Management Companies (TMCs) are also deemed essential for these SMBs in effectively managing their travel emissions.
"It's a great sign for the business travel sector that the UK's small businesses expect to continue ramping up their business travel volumes and spending in 2025. Now that nine out of ten businesses have established targets to cut their business travel emissions, it will be crucial they support their employees in this transition."
"Over one third of decision makers identified increasing use of rail as a key initiative to reduce their carbon footprint. The vast majority also have clear policy and financial support to encourage use of lower-carbon modes of travel."
