California deputies have arrested Riley Royal and Amanda Royal, the parents of a 2-year-old girl who was allegedly murdered and unlawfully buried in a rural area.
After being unable to locate the child during a welfare check, deputies discovered that the girl had died three months prior and that her parents tried to conceal this information.
Detectives revealed the girl had been physically abused before her death and was buried near Whiskeytown Recreation area, prompting a homicide investigation and autopsy.
The couple is charged with murder and child abuse resulting in death and is currently being held without bail, with a court appearance scheduled.
