Carena Lashey Piccinotti died Oct. 5, 2024 in a crash on Stony Point Road near Rohnert Park after investigators say her family's vehicle was chased off the road. Her mother, Christa Piccinotti, recalls embracing Carena with Carena's 3-year-old son in their arms the last time they saw each other. Family members placed a roadside memorial along Stony Point Road and maintain photographs and a pink butterfly urn at home to hold some of Carena's ashes. A Santa Rosa man was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the crash before being found incompetent to stand trial.
