Saskatchewan RCMP are investigating after human remains were found near Pelican Narrows, a community that's part of Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, located about 420 kilometres north of Saskatoon, last week. Police have identified the remains as belonging to 16-year-old Jay'siiah Webb-Long, who went missing last May after travelling to the northern remote community from Brampton, Ont. Officers located Webb-Long on May 13, during a planned search near Pelican Narrows, according to a Monday news release from RCMP. An autopsy was carried out two days later.

Anyone with information is urged to contact investigators.

At around 11:30 p.m. on May 6, a ShotSpotter - a device which uses sensors to scan for sounds that resemble - detected gunshots in the area of Acushnet Avenue and Russell Street, the office of Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn said in a press release.

An 18-year-old Brooklyn man was shot and killed Sunday afternoon in Brownsville, police said. The victim, identified by authorities as Quahmir Cruz, was struck in the chest just after 3 p.m. in the vicinity of 375 Blake Avenue and was later pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital. By Sunday evening, police had not released a description of the shooter or a possible motive.

A 35-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victims were transported for treatment of gunshot wounds. They were a 25-year-old in stable condition and a 27-year-old in critical condition.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), Downer is no longer alive. Fowlie explained that it appears that Downer's phone and social media were compromised a few weeks before she went missing.

Police said someone opened fire on Jairo Javier Vinces-Cobena, who lived on the 5500 block of 98th Street, in front of another home on the 9700 block of 55th Avenue in Corona just before 7:50 p.m. on March 13. Officers from the 110th Precinct were called to the scene after receiving a 911 call about a man shot. When they arrived, they found Vinces-Cobena shot multiple times about his body.

They were able to recover additional body parts from the water. Those parts appear to have been clean cut. That is, they were severed with a sharp force instrument. We did not recover a full body. The search is continuing for additional body parts, but we were able to make an identification from the body parts that were recovered.

Two women were found dead on a hiking trail on Wednesday afternoon, and during the investigation, a third woman was found dead in a home in Wayne County, the Utah Department of Public Safety said in a news release on Thursday.

According to police sources, 26-year-old Naya Brown was arrested at her Bronx home on March 3 by the Regional Fugitive Task Force. She joins 37-year-old Pernell Warren, who was also cuffed last month in relation to the Jan. 25 homicide on murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon charges.

Authorities are investigating a suspicious death near Lake Berryessa that closed a stretch of Highway 128, according to the Napa County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's public information officer Henry Wofford said a body was found within the closure area, prompting detectives to respond about 3:20 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, and shut down the roadway between Wragg Canyon Road and Monticello Dam for several hours.

More than a year after a deadly home invasion in Mississauga, Peel police say seven people have been arrested, and three have been charged with murder. The arrests are the result of a "complex and lengthy" homicide investigation into the death of Ruo Zhou Wei, 55, police said in a news release Monday. Wei was shot inside his home near Central Parkway W. and Confederation Parkway just before 4 a.m. on Oct. 1, 2024. He later died in hospital.

OAKLAND Police here have arrested a suspect in an ambush-style shooting that targeted two brothers who operated a late-night lingerie store in an area known for prostitution, according to jail records. But what authorities can't explain thus far is why it was so important for 30-year-old Christian Mendoza to wait in an alleyway on the 1600 block of Solano Way, then fire several shots into a Toyota Prius, killing 28-year-old Zinatullah Hedayet. The shooting happened around 3:15 a.m. on Dec. 19.

Authorities received a call reporting an assault with a deadly weapon in the 5800 block of Lorelei Avenue at 7:53 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The victims - a man, a woman and a 17-year-old girl - suffered gunshot wounds to their upper torsos, said Deputy David Yoo. They were pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

More than a thousand people gathered Saturday in Oakland for a celebration of life for Beam, who lost his life last November after being shot. "When I was younger, he was my hero -- strong, driven," said Monica Beam. John Beam's daughters spoke from the heart at their dad's celebration of life.

SUNNYVALE An investigation is underway into the shooting death of a woman Wednesday night in Sunnyvale, authorities said. The shooting happened around 9:40 p.m. in the 1200 block of Vienna Drive, the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety said in a news release. Officers arrived to find the woman inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
