A professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology was fatally shot at his home near Boston, and authorities said Tuesday they had launched a homicide investigation. Nuno F.G. Loureiro, a 47-year-old physicist and fusion scientist, was shot Monday night at his home in Brookline, Massachusetts. He died at a local hospital on Tuesday, the Norfolk District Attorney's Office said in a statement. The prosecutor's office said no suspects had been taken into custody as of Tuesday afternoon, and that its investigation was ongoing.
Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer's son, Nick Reiner, has been taken into custody, reports TMZ. According to online records, the 32-year-old is being held by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department as of Monday morning, December 15th. Several media outlets reported earlier on Monday that a family member was being questioned in connection with Reiner's and Singer's deaths.

A body was found Monday morning in the water off Castle Island in South Boston, according to police. Boston police officers were notified around 9:34 a.m. that the Massachusetts Environmental Police had recovered a body in the water off Castle Island, police said. The body was taken by the medical examiner's office for an autopsy and homicide detectives were notified, according to police. Police have not released information about whether they believe the death was suspicious.
Robert O'Connor, Drumgowna, Louth Village, appeared in custody at Drogheda District Court on Monday. Louise O'Connor (56), her husband Mark O'Connor (54), and their son Evan O'Connor (27) were found dead at their Drumgowna home on September 29 last. Court presenter Sgt John O'Hehir said that the DPP also consented to a send forward for sentence on a signed plea of guilty should that occur.
A mass shooting in Newark left two people killed, including an 10-year-old boy, and three others injured Saturday night, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office. The office said Newark Police were called to the scene at the 300 block of Chancellor Ave. around 7:00 p.m. Saturday. A 21-year-old woman was also killed in the shooting. The woman and the boy were pronounced dead at University Hospital.
Provincial police say two people have been arrested and another is wanted in an investigation into an attempted murder and a homicide in southern Ontario. OPP say York Region police officers responded to a report of a shooting in Vaughan, Ont., the night of Nov. 12, 2020 and one person was injured and taken to hospital. They say OPP officers responded to a shooting at a home in Bolton, Ont., the afternoon of Jan. 18, 2021,
A cordon remains in place while police investigate the death of a girl in Oxfordshire. Officers were called on Tuesday to Middle Street in Islip, a village around five miles north of Oxford, where a crime scene is still in place on Thursday morning. The girl, whose age has not been released and who has not yet been named, died at the property.
Investigators say the male groped the female customer, which prompted the store's employees to ask the man to leave. According to the news release, the man responded by becoming verbally aggressive, throwing and damaging merchandise in the store. Officials say the employees and customers then noticed the man had an object in his hand that they believed was a knife. They said he threatened to kill and harm everyone in the store, according to authorities.
A Brooklyn man has been arrested and charged with concealing a human corpse after police discovered a body outside of his home, officials said. According to the NYPD, officers responded to a 911 call Friday morning and found an unconscious, unresponsive man outside 557 East 21st St. in Flatbush. He had visible signs of trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

The assault was reported just before midnight Sept. 29 at the Gish station at East Gish Road and North First Street, and responding deputies with the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office which polices Valley Transportation Authority transit lines found a 42-year-old man suffering from serious head injuries. An investigation determined that he had been severely beaten, and he was taken to a hospital. The sheriff's office said that he died around 11 p.m. Wednesday, 10 days after he was injured.
