A chain-reaction crash occurred in Burlingame after an e-bike struck a sedan, leading to the death of a young boy. The incident took place shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Donnelly Ave. A 4-year-old boy died at the scene, while his 6-year-old sister sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Stanford Hospital. The 19-year-old female driver of the sedan, who remained at the scene, was reportedly not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
According to the preliminary investigation, a 19-year-old driver from San Mateo was leaving a nearby parking lot when her car was struck by someone riding an e-bike.
The female driver then accelerated forward across Donnelly Avenue, onto the north sidewalk, and into the Truffle Bar Restaurant, where it came to rest.
