California battery storage increasing rapidly, but not enough to end blackouts, Gov. Newsom says

Gov. Gavin Newsom announced California now has over 10,000 megawatts of battery storage, 20% of the 52,000 megawatts needed for climate goals.

Batteries are crucial for achieving 100% clean energy by 2045, allowing stored renewable energy to be used when solar generation drops.
