California gas prices just skyrocketed and likely won't come down for a while
Briefly

Bay Area gas prices surged nearly 30 cents as of last week, significantly exceeding the national average due to supply disruptions caused by a major explosion at the Martinez Refining Company. This incident has left three of Northern California's five refineries offline during a critical transition to summer gasoline. Experts warn that this unprecedented situation will likely worsen as the area prepares for a seasonal fuel shift, which typically increases prices. The region's supply issues are exaggerated by Southern California refineries' operational changes.
This is pretty much as bad as it gets for this type of situation. It's probably not going to get any better.
Instead of one pool of gasoline for the entire state, it has already been sliced into two pools of gasoline.
