The hiker was off trail high above Angora Lakes when he became stuck on the side of a steep granite face, having nowhere to go.
El Dorado County Sheriff's officials noted that with over a half million acres of the Eldorado National Forest, the search in Search and Rescue can be extremely difficult.
Deputy Joseph Brown piloted the helicopter while Sgt. Jesse Dacanay operated the hoist, successfully lowering Deputy Alexander Kirchner to secure the hiker.
The rescue operation culminated with the Echo 1 crew returning the hiker safely to the ground, with no injuries reported from the incident.
