Missing hunter found alive after 20 days lost in California wilderness
""I went over this thing, and it was scraping bottom. I looked up the tree in front of it, it said Diamond Road, jeep road. That means you'd better have a rock crawler. I don't have a rock crawler," said Dailey."
""You either try to walk out or you're going to sit here and die," said Dailey."
""There were resources from across the Central Valley that came here. We have different counties that sent equipment. Kern County sent equipment. Of course, Tulare County, Kings County all had individuals here assisting with the search," said Fresno County Supervisor Nathan Magsig."
Ron Dailey of Selma, California, went hunting and did not return as expected, prompting his family to contact the Fresno County Sheriff's Office. He traveled to the Swamp Lake Trail and became disoriented on rough jeep roads, which damaged his truck. Dailey used the destroyed vehicle as shelter and had food for about two weeks. After several days at about 10,000 feet he decided to walk out to survive, fell several times, and lost his phone. After walking several miles, a group of hunters found him near Swamp Lake Trail. Multiple counties supplied equipment and personnel for the search. Dailey recovered at a Clovis hospital and was being monitored by doctors with a planned release.
