A British cruise company has said it is working with authorities after a passenger on one of its ships was seen entering the water in the seas around the Canary Islands. Marella Cruises, which is operated by TUI UK, said the guest went overboard as the vessel was heading towards La Gomera, the second-smallest of the main islands in the Spanish archipelago off the coast of north-west Africa.

Amanpreet Thind, 35, was swept out to ocean at Soberanes Point along the Garrapata State Park coastline on Nov. 22. On the day of the incident, a Beach Hazard Statement was in effect, the news release releases. Thind had been visiting Soberanes Point with three friends when a large wave struck the rocks, pulling him and two companions into the ocean. While the two friends were able to safely exit the water, Thind was not.

Two mountain climbers have died on Aoraki, New Zealand's tallest peak, with two others from the same group rescued, authorities said. The climbers' bodies have been found and specialist searchers were working to recover them in a challenging alpine environment, the police area commander Inspector Vicki Walker said on Tuesday. None of the climbers have been publicly identified. Sgt Kevin McErlain told the Timaru Herald the pair had been connected by a rope when they fell near the summit of Aoraki, also known as Mount Cook.

On Friday, a family of four, among them 39-year-old Yuji Hu of Calgary, Canada, visited Garrapata State Beach, south of Carmel. Amid 15 to 20-foot waves, Hu's daughter was "swept off the shoreline" and into the ocean, the Monterey County Sheriff's Office said. Both Hu and the girl's mother entered the water to attempt to rescue her, but only the mother was able to swim back to the shore.

On Friday, an off-duty State Parks peace officer/lifeguard located a family in distress near the water line around 1 p.m., according to the release, as an adult male was attempting to rescue his daughter. She had been pulled out by waves that were estimated to be about 15-20 feet high. The girl's mother reportedly attempted to reach out to both father and daughter and was also swept into the water.

A hiker died on Mount Whitney last weekend, falling off a cliff on a steep part of the trail, Inyo County Search & Rescue said. Crews on Saturday responded to a report about several people who fell in the water at the mouth of Tomales Bay near Tomales Point in "rough ocean conditions," the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office said in a social media post. A Boston woman was rescued from a New Hampshire mountain this weekend after injuring her leg. New Hampshire Fish and Game received a report of an injured hiker near the summit of Mount Osceola in Livermore around 3:20 p.m. on Saturday. The rescue team, made up of more than 20 conservation officials and volunteers, reached the injured hiker by 6:00 p.m., according to Fish and Game.

"We're still in the golden hour of our search and rescue," Office of Civil Defense deputy administrator Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro IV said in a news briefing.

"The number of victims is 102 people, consisting of 99 survivors, 3 deaths,"

A man from Sandwich, Massachusetts, was rescued from a hiking trail on South Moat Mountain in New Hampshire on Friday. Around 4 p.m., N.H. Fish and Game received a report of a hiker experiencing severe cramps in his arms and legs approximately two miles from the trailhead. The man was hiking with a friend when the cramps started. After an hour of attempting to rehydrate, his friend called 911 as the cramping persisted, according to N.H. Fish and Game.
