President Trump's recent visit to Los Angeles included a promise to increase water deliveries to the region. However, records revealed that on the day of his announcement, water pumping from Northern California was temporarily reduced due to routine maintenance. This normal operational maintenance led to a significant decrease in water supply, which resumed after the maintenance was completed. Trump confidently claimed the military had activated water deliveries, a statement denied by state officials who clarified that the federal pumps resumed operation independently of military intervention.
On Jan. 21, water deliveries decreased to about 1,900 acre-feet, down from about 6,900 acre-feet the day before, due to routine maintenance.
There were no military sent to the Central Valley. That was reported but wasn't in evidence, said Gov. Newsom.
