A bat-eared fox escaped from its holding facility at The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens in Palm Desert, California, on February 10. The zoo believes the fox is still on the grounds, possibly foraging for insects in one of the gardens. Although searchers spotted the fox several times, it has not yet been captured. Bat-eared foxes, known for their large ears and diet of insects, pose no threat to humans. The zoo encourages visitors to keep an eye out for the fox and report any sightings without attempting to approach it.
Keepers at The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens believe the fox is likely in one of the gardens, munching on small insects.
Bat-eared foxes are not dangerous to humans; their diet consists of insects and they can be distinguished by their large ears.
