Woman critically injured in Oakland freeway crash

A woman was critically injured after her Nissan Altima crashed into a center divider on Highway 24 near the Caldecott Tunnel. The incident occurred in the early morning, around 7:37 a.m., in the eastbound lanes. The collision left her unconscious, necessitating the breaking of a vehicle window to extricate her for medical treatment. She was subsequently transported to a hospital via ambulance. The crash resulted in a temporary shutdown of two eastbound lanes for about 45 minutes while emergency services responded. The cause is currently under investigation.
A woman was critically injured Monday morning when her car crashed into a center divider on Highway 24 near the Caldecott Tunnel, authorities said.
The crash happened about 7:37 a.m. Monday in the eastbound lanes of Highway 24 west of Old Tunnel Road, the California Highway Patrol said.
A vehicle window had to be broken to gain entry so she could be extricated and medically treated, authorities said. She was taken by ambulance to a hospital.
The crash caused the two eastbound lanes closest to the divider to be shut down for almost 45 minutes.
