A shooting occurred in downtown Haverhill at around 11:30 a.m., damaging property but causing no injuries. Haverhill police discovered numerous shell casings at the scene.

A man had been hit and was pronounced dead at the scene, they said. Police said on social media that the driver and vehicle stayed behind at the scene.

"We are currently gathering details on this incident," said school police spokesman Jorge Herrera. "We can confirm the shooting occurred off campus adjacent to Sepulveda Middle School."

Six individuals have been indicted in connection with a fireworks explosion in Yolo County, with court appearances scheduled for the defendants, including former sheriff's lieutenant Sam Machado.

There was a crash early Friday morning at the edge of Pacific Heights in which an SFPD vehicle collided with a car while it was chasing down a different vehicle. As ABC 7 reports, the collision happened around 7:30 am at the intersection of Divisadero and Pine streets, following a chase that began in the area of Geary Boulevard and St. Joseph's Avenue, about six blocks away in Anza Vista.
