In the recent Ontario snap election, approximately 6.14% of eligible voters participated in early voting, a notable decrease from previous years. The limited three-day voting period, due to the early election call by Doug Ford, hindered potential voter turnout. Compared to 2022, which saw just under 10% participation over ten days, the current turnout reflects a trend of declining engagement, especially as the overall participation in the 2022 election was the lowest in history at about 43%. Despite this, it's challenging to predict final turnout based on early voting data alone.
Just over six per cent of eligible Ontario voters cast an early ballot in the snap provincial election, preliminary data shows.
In 2022, more than one million people, or about 9.92 per cent, cast an advanced ballot. But that was over a 10-day window.
