The US Coast Guard intercepted a severely overloaded boat with 99 Haitian immigrants attempting to reach the US and returned them to Haiti. After providing food, water, and medical attention, the immigrants were sent back. Lt. Cmdr. Brent Pearson stated the agency prioritizes protecting US maritime borders through increased patrols. The Coast Guard warns of the dangers associated with illegal migration in unsafe vessels. So far in the fiscal year, 412 Haitians have been sent back, significantly lower than the previous year's total of 857.

Attempting illegal migration in overloaded, unsafe vessels... is extremely dangerous and puts you and your loved one's lives at risk.
