Delta plane crash latest: Airline offers $30K to passengers with 'no strings attached'
Briefly

Delta Flight 4819 crashed at Toronto Pearson International Airport after experiencing extreme weather conditions in the days prior. The airport's president, Deborah Flint, reported over 20 inches of snow fell from two storms before the incident, highlighting unusual weather for the region. The plane, arriving from Minneapolis, encountered strong winds and snow during landing. Although Monday was clear, the situation raised questions about weather's possible role in the crash, prompting investigations by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada alongside other agencies.
On Thursday and Sunday, we got more than 20 inches, 50 centimeters of accumulated snow. That is actually not typical. In fact, it is more snow within that time window than we received in all of last winter.
Though Monday was a clear day, the plane crashed amid blowing snow and strong wind gusts in the Toronto area. Winds reached 40 mph on the ground.
