WestJet signs deal with Lufthansa Technik for maintenance facility at Calgary airport | CBC News
Briefly

WestJet has struck a major agreement with Lufthansa Technik to establish a new multibillion-dollar engine repair station in Calgary, set to service its Boeing 737 Max fleet. This facility will enhance capacity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, with expected operation beginning in 2027. The $120 million initiative, supported by government and local investment, aims to reduce engine downtime and emissions by maintaining engines locally instead of overseas, while also creating approximately 160 new jobs by 2030.
"The facility will ensure greater capacity, efficiency, cost certainty and rapid turnaround times for aircraft by servicing engines right here at our global home and global hub of operations." - Alexis von Hoensbroech
