Joss Cook, 57, began experiencing symptoms indicative of ovarian cancer in early 2021, including abdominal pain and bloating. After a series of misdiagnoses, she was finally diagnosed with the disease and underwent surgery to remove two tumors. Following treatment, she has been cancer-free and has taken on an advocacy role during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month to spread awareness about the disease. Cook emphasizes the importance of recognizing symptoms and believes earlier testing could lead to earlier diagnoses, potentially saving lives.
In early 2021, Joss Cook experienced alarming symptoms which were initially misdiagnosed as IBS before leading to a later diagnosis of ovarian cancer.
She has been raising awareness of ovarian cancer symptoms during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, urging other women to pay attention to their bodies.
Despite a late diagnosis, Cook remains positive and believes an earlier CA125 blood test could have resulted in a sooner diagnosis.
Around 7,500 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year in the UK, making it a critical health awareness issue.
