THC and CBD Differentially Affect Psychosis
Briefly

Cannabis use is intricately linked to psychosis development, particularly exacerbated by THC which worsens schizophrenia symptoms. Conversely, CBD appears to alleviate these symptoms, especially when used alongside antipsychotic medications. Schizophrenia itself is a debilitating disorder affecting about 1% of adults, often beginning in late adolescence. The disorder is complex, featuring a range of symptoms and significant comorbidities. The increasing potency of cannabis products has raised concerns about their psychotomimetic effects, especially among individuals with genetic predispositions to both cannabis addiction and schizophrenia.
Cannabis use has been implicated in the development of psychosis, particularly through its THC component, which exacerbates symptoms of disorders like schizophrenia.
CBD has shown promise in alleviating symptoms of schizophrenia, and when co-administered with antipsychotics, it can reduce the disorder's positive symptoms.
