Hyundai is recalling approximately 145,235 electric vehicles due to a potentially faulty integrated charging control unit, which can lead to a loss of drive power, affecting major models like the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6.
The NHTSA noted that these integrated charging control units are susceptible to damage, resulting in an internal battery failure that prevents charging, prompting the recall.
Hyundai will provide free inspections and repairs for the impacted vehicles, addressing the necessary part replacements and software updates to rectify the issue, ensuring safety and functionality.
Additionally, Kia is recalling around 62,000 EVs, specifically certain EV6 models, for the same charging control unit issue, with dealers also offering inspections and repairs at no cost.
