Lamborghini CEO warns tariffs have even forced its wealthiest consumers-who have an average of 5 cars in their garage-to waver on buying a new ride
Briefly

Tariff instability between the U.S. and EU is prompting some wealthy U.S. buyers to delay Lamborghini purchases while awaiting a final tariff rate. The U.S. is Lamborghini's largest market, but Lamborghini vehicles are manufactured in Italy and production cannot be moved to the U.S. A 15% tariff deal covering some EU products, including cars, was reached in exchange for EU commitments to buy more U.S. AI chips and military equipment. Lamborghini's large backlog of orders cushions near-term deliveries, but tariffs still pose potential pressure on sales and pricing.
"Some are waiting because they want to be sure that this is the final number that is going to be in place," Winkelmann told . "Others are fine with it, or we will have negotiations."
"For us, free trade is the right approach," Winkelmann said. "We all know that one is what we want. The other is the reality, and we have to deal with complexity since we are in business and we are ready to face whatever comes."
