Musk, State Dept. push back on reports of plan to buy $400M of armored Teslas
Briefly

Elon Musk publicly refuted claims that Tesla has received a $400 million government contract to produce armored electric vehicles for the State Department. A State Department official also confirmed that no such contract has been awarded, stating that the solicitation for these vehicles is currently on hold. While the State Department's 2025 procurement forecast mentioned a potential budget for armored electric vehicles, there are no concrete plans to move forward with such a contract, especially as reports earlier indicated a link to Tesla's Cybertruck.
I'm pretty sure Tesla isn't getting $400M. No one mentioned it to me, at least.
No government contract has been awarded to Tesla or any other vehicle manufacturer to produce armored electric vehicles.
The solicitation is on hold and there are no current plans to issue it.
The entry on the procurement forecast... shows that it was edited Wednesday evening.
